Leadership Changes at Ramapo & Spring Valley High Schools
August 28, 2024
Dear East Ramapo Community,
I am delighted to welcome everyone to the new academic year. This is always such an invigorating time, as I sense the excitement of students and staff members reconnecting, new relationships forming and the return to learning and discovery in our classrooms.
As we start the 2024-25 school year, the East Ramapo Central School District is announcing some key leadership changes within two of our schools.
Starting on September 3, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Ronald Gonzalez will take on the role of Interim Principal of Spring Valley High School.
Throughout his three-decade career in public education, Dr. Gonzalez has served and supported students and families as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal and teacher in several diverse school communities, including Tarrytown and Mount Vernon.
Also starting on September 3, Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Beverley Jones will fill the role of Interim Principal at Ramapo High School.
Dr. Jones began her career as an elementary teacher and later taught middle and high school mathematics. In her most recent role as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction in Mount Vernon, Dr. Jones further honed her leadership skills and deepened her understanding of educational administration.
The interim appointments of Drs. Gonzalez and Jones will allow the school year to begin without disruption for students and staff as the district finalizes its selection of permanent leadership for both high schools, which is expected to be announced in September.
Starting next week, Spring Valley High School Principal Karen Pinel will take on new responsibilities supporting ERCSD administrators in our Central Office in Spring Valley. The district expresses its gratitude for Ms. Pinel’s years of service to the Spring Valley High School community.
The East Ramapo Central School District is committed to providing the best educational experience for our students. These leadership changes reflect the district's commitment to meeting the needs of every child we serve.
I wish everyone all the best for a healthy, safe and productive academic year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Anthony DiCarlo
Anthony DiCarlo
